Warriors, Prismview Near Deal For Chase Center Video Boards

The Warriors are finalizing a deal with Prismview, a division of Samsung, to provide video boards at the new $1B Chase Center, according to sources. Officials from both the Warriors and Utah-based Prismview declined to comment. The S.F. arena will open this fall and is one of the most widely anticipated new sports venues. This would be a major win for Prismview, which recently installed 12,047 square feet of new video boards as part of the $192.5M renovation of State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Prismview’s other recent installations include Rogers Place, Vivint Smart Home Arena, M&T Bank Stadium and Audi Field (THE DAILY).

NFL Drops Challenge Of Dementia Claims In Concussion Case

The NFL today "abruptly dropped its plan" to "challenge approved dementia diagnoses" in the $1B concussion case. A federal court hearing set for tomorrow in Philadelphia was canceled this afternoon as the league "dropped its appeal." Instead, U.S. District Judge Anita Brody issued an order "requiring doctors to explain their findings in certain cases." The league "had asked to challenge some diagnoses made by settlement-approved doctors and upheld by a court-appointed administrator whose decisions are supposed to be final" (AP, 1/9).

New Arnold Palmer-Themed Exhibit Coming To Bay Hill

This year's PGA Tour Arnold Palmer Invitational at Orlando's Bay Hill Club & Lounge will now include the Arnold Palmer Experience, and "anyone with a ticket during the tournament days will have access." It will be "located near the 10th tee during the tournament," but there are plans for it to head to Palmer's home town of Latrobe in the summer (GOLFDIGEST.com, 1/9).

Memorial Park To Get Upgrade For '20 Houston Open

Houston City Council members unanimously voted today to "approve plans for the renovation of the Memorial Park golf course, which will allow the PGA Tour’s Houston Open event to be held at the course" as early as '20. The vote enables work to "begin within days" on the $13.5M renovation plan, to be funded by the Astros Golf Foundation. Renovations "need to be completed and the course open for play by Nov. 1 for the Houston Open to be played at Memorial Park in 2020." The foundation will "pay an annual tournament fee" of $1M for the PGA Tour event’s use of the city-owned course, with $750,000 going to the city and $250,000 to the Memorial Park Conservancy (CHRON.com, 1/9).
