Sources: Steinbrenner Racing To Make Jump To IndyCar Series

Indy Lights team Steinbrenner Racing is close to announcing a move to the premier IndyCar Series next year, sources said, with Harding Racing said to be the team's likely partner. The team is co-owned by 22-year-old George Michael Steinbrenner IV, the son of Yankees co-Chair & General Partner Hank Steinbrenner. Sources said the team would begin next season and be an Andretti-allied team. George Michael Steinbrenner started the team in '17 with Andretti Autosport. Sources said an announcement could come as soon as next week and may be held at Yankee Stadium.

George Michael Steinbrenner declined comment when contacted by THE DAILY, citing his focus on this weekend’s IndyCar season finale in Sonoma. Steinbrenner driver Colton Herta will make his IndyCar debut driving for Harding. Sources said that Herta and fellow rising Indy Lights driver Patricio O’Ward is the expected lineup for the Steinbrenner-Harding outfit next year.
