Detroit Grand Prix To Stay On Belle Isle Through At Least '21

IndyCar's Detroit Grand Prix "will stay on Belle Isle, at least for the next three years" after the Michigan Department of Natural Resources "finalized terms of an agreement" with race organizers. There is an "option to extend" through '23. The deal calls for the Grand Prix to "increase its annual total contribution for hosting the event on Belle Isle from $200,000 to $450,000." Also included is an "annual $325,000 event fee and a contribution of $125,000 for the DNR to use for specific projects on Belle Isle." The total time spent on setting up and taking down the race will be reduced to 60 days in '19 and 59 beginning in '20 (DETROITNEWS.com, 8/10).
