Monster Energy Supercross Considers Adding Electric Series

Monster Energy Supercross is considering adding an electric series in the coming years, as the topic came up during a recent meeting between execs from the dirt-bike series and the AMA and FIM sanctioning bodies. The series currently has essentially every dirt-bike manufacturer entered as an original equipment manufacturer in the series aside from electric-bike maker Alta. However, Feld Motor Sports Dir of Competition for Supercross Dave Prater said that Feld is considering creating an electric class, since current rules dictate that combustion-engine bikes race separately from electric bikes. Supercross recently wrapped up its '18 season, when it saw a 5% TV ratings increase on Fox Sports channels, including a 27% jump in the male 18-34 demo, plus what it said was unspecified attendance uptick.
