Islanders To Play 60 Games At Nassau Over Next Three Seasons

The Islanders will "split their regular-season home games" between Nassau Coliseum and Barclays Center in the "years leading up to the opening of their new arena at Belmont Park." The team has agreed to play 60 games, including the preseason, at the Coliseum over the next three seasons, "but that could change slightly based on scheduling." They will play 12 regular-season games at the Coliseum next season and "48 preseason- and regular-season games there in the following two seasons." Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment CEO Brett Yormark said that they are "still discussing where to play playoff games." Islanders co-Owner Jon Ledecky added that "that will be up to the NHL."

In announcing the deal today, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed that the new arena "won’t be ready for three years and the team will play its first regular-season game" there during '21-22 (NEWSDAY.com, 1/29).
