Raiders To Host Groundbreaking For New Las Vegas Stadium

The Raiders tonight are "scheduled to break ground" on their new $1.9B stadium in Las Vegas, which "could become the team's new home" as early as '20. The team hired Mortenson Construction and McCarthy Building Cos. as general contractors (MERCURYNEWS.com, 11/10). The "invitation-only event" is expected to begin at 5:00pm PT. Some observers have "speculated that current Raiders players and possibly some of the team's historic greats would be present" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/12). The event will be "different from your typical groundbreaking because darkness will be setting in" (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 11/12).
