Apple Demo Event Features AR Component For MLBAM's At Bat App

Apple at its special event today touting its upcoming fall product releases featured a new augmented reality component to the forthcoming iPhone 8 that will involve MLBAM and its MLB.com At Bat mobile app. Viewers using the new phone and At Bat app pointing the device at players on the field will generate an interactive experience including real-time statistics, Statcast data, and play probabilities. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be released Sept. 22, but the MLBAM AR capabilities are being developed for the '18 season. A brief demonstration of the AR technology at the event featured a depiction of an Astros-A’s game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
