Indians Win Streak Nears Record, But Will It Equal Big Crowds?

The Indians today begin a three-game home series against the Tigers in which they could match the "longest winning streak in a century" in MLB, and it will be "interesting to see how the fans respond this week." September is a month in which the club "always struggles to draw" at Progressive Field. The Indians "topped 30,000 at the gate last Friday and Saturday -- wins 16 and 17 during the streak -- but the attendance slipped to 21,259" for last night's matchup against the Orioles. It is expected that the gate numbers for the Tigers series will be "more in line with the Sunday crowd -- low 20s" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 9/11).
