Liberty Media Posts Improved Braves Revenue, Smaller Loss In Q1

Liberty Media today said that the Braves in Q1 had an adjusted operating loss of $33M, $10M better than Q1 '16, with revenue up by $1M to $5M. Liberty said the increase in Braves Group revenue came "primarily from an exhibition game played at SunTrust Park" on March 31 against the Yankees. No regular-season games were played during Q1. Meanwhile, opening night revenue on April 14 was the "largest in Braves history," including "ticket sales, retail and concessions." The "exact amount was not disclosed" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/9).
