ACC Will Return Championship Events To North Carolina

The ACC today "confirmed that its neutral-site championship events are coming back" to North Carolina, one day after the NCAA returned events to the state. The ACC will "hold championships in football, women’s basketball, baseball, swimming and diving, golf and tennis in North Carolina" over the '17-18 academic year. Last September, the ACC Council of Presidents "voted to relocate neutral site championships from North Carolina" during the '16-17 academic year "in light of House Bill 2" (GREENSBORO.com, 4/19).

Contracts with venues that had multiyear agreements with the ACC were "restructured and extended a year to compensate for events that were moved" in '16-17. That means the football championship, slated to be played in Charlotte through '19, "has been extended" through '20 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/19).
