Throwback Thursday: Winds Of Change

Five years ago this week, then-Red Sox Exec VP & GM Theo Epstein agreed to a five-year, $18.5M deal to run baseball operations for the Cubs. After leading the Red Sox to two World Series titles following an 86-year drought, the Cubs job offered Epstein an opportunity to solidify his legacy as a curse-buster of almost messianic proportions. It also gave Cubs fans a reason to believe in the team's direction under relatively new Owner Tom Ricketts. Five years later, Epstein's Cubs await the winner of tonight's Dodgers-Nationals game in the NLCS, just eight wins away from bringing sports' longest-suffering fans to the promised land.
