Matthew Hulsizer Replaces Phil Falcone As Wild Minority Investor

Peak6 Investments CEO Matthew Hulsizer "has become a minority owner of the Wild," purchasing 100% of the shares owned by former hedge fund manager Phil Falcone. Majority Owner Craig Leipold "purchased pieces" of Falcone's stake "over the past few years," bringing his share down to 25%. Hulsizer in previous years "has been part of bids" for the Coyotes and Blues but had to get "re-vetted by the NHL." He was "approved unanimously" by the NHL BOG this week. There is now "no ability for any minority owner to obtain a majority stake in the team" (STARTRIBUNE.com, 2/25).

Falcone in September reportedly was looking to unload his stake in the Wild with the goal of becoming an eventual owner of the Islanders. In '13, he agreed to admit wrongdoing and to be banned from the securities industry for at least five years to settle market manipulation accusations (THE DAILY).
