ATP Announces 45% Increase In Prize Money By '18 Season

The ATP announced a 45% prize money increase over the next four years to $135M by '18, ending a year-long negotiation between players and tournaments. Prize money was $93M this year. The biggest increases in player compensation come in the top nine events, with tournaments providing annual increases of 11% and the ATP contributing a further 3% increase, resulting in a 14% annual increase in that category through to '18. Player compensation at the dozens of lower-level events is set to increase at an average of 3.5% per year during the same period. The tournaments had wanted far lower levels of increases.
