Sources: Local Officials, DC United Close To Deal On New Stadium

Sources said that DC officials and DC United execs "have nearly finalized an agreement" for construction of a 20,000-seat stadium at Buzzard Point. The sources said that "despite months of delays and missed deadlines, the basic framework of the deal remains in place." DC would provide up to $150M of the estimated $300M project "through land infrastructure improvements." DC United "would be responsible for building the stadium" several blocks southwest of Nationals Park (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 5/19).
