Notre Dame-Under Armour Deal Called Largest In College Sports
Notre Dame and Under Armour today formally announced a 10-year deal in which UA will design and supply footwear, apparel, training equipment and game-day uniforms for each of the school's men's and women's varsity sports teams (Under Armour). Officials "did not disclose financial terms" of the agreement. But Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick said, "By any measure, it is the largest deal of its kind in the history of collegiate athletics" (SOUTHBENDTRIBUNE.com, 1/21).
Sources said that the value of the deal is about $90M "both in cash and merchandise combined." Swarbrick noted that the agreement "could eventually be worth even more," as it "allows the school to take some of the cash the company owes the school in company stock" (ESPN.com, 1/21).
