Road Improvements Will Make Braves' Ballpark More Accessible
Cobb County (Ga.) political and business leaders on Friday held a groundbreaking for the first of about $1B in infrastructure improvements near the future site of the Braves' ballpark. The Cumberland Community Improvement District is "joining forces with the county, state and federal governments" on a $35M plan to expand U.S. 41. CCID Chair Tad Leithead said, "People keep asking, 'Are you doing improvements because the Braves are coming?' The Braves are coming because we’re doing transportation improvements."
Braves Exec VP/ Business Operations Mike Plant acknowledged the "concerns he has heard from the public about traffic and parking surrounding the new stadium," but he said that "team is confident access in and out of the ballpark won’t be a problem" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/6).
