Lightning Eye More Central Florida Fans With Game In Orlando
The Lightning will host the Blues in an preseason game tonight at Amway Center, marking "another step toward the Lightning's goal of developing a stronger fan base in Central Florida." This is the third consecutive year that the team has scheduled an exhibition at the Orlando venue, and team Exec VP/Marketing & Communications Bill Wickett said that future games "will be decided on a yearly basis." As of yesterday afternoon, 4,600 tickets had been sold. Amway's hockey capacity is 8,053 (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 9/18).
Meanwhile, the Coyotes tonight will host an intrasquad scrimmage at Jobing.com Arena "to benefit the families of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots firefighters who died battling the Yarnell Hill fire June 30." Tickets are $5, and "all proceeds will go to the families of the firefighters" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 9/18).
