HBO Tonight Will Televise Documentary About Marty Glickman

HBO tonight at 9:00pm ET will televise "Glickman," a documentary about late sportscaster Marty Glickman. The film came about largely because producer James Freedman, who was also a producer on Glickman's WNEW-AM radio show, "wanted to give a true legend the national exposure his life deserved." It had a theatrical run earlier this summer (SHERMANREPORT.com, 8/22).

Freedman "compiled a rich assortment of vintage material and the insightful accolades of a starry bunch, among them Jerry Stiller, Frank Gifford, Jim Brown, Marv Albert and Bob Costas." The L.A. TIMES' Sheri Linden writes the film is "not just an affectionate portrait of a gifted athlete-turned-groundbreaking sportscaster," but also a "fond remembrance of life" in N.Y. from the '30s through the '70s (L.A. TIMES, 8/16).
