Matthew Berry Promotes Fantasy-Themed Book Released Today

ESPN analyst Matthew Berry's new book, "Fantasy Life," was published today by Penguin, and Berry appeared on NPR's "Morning Edition" today to discuss the fantasy-sports themed work. Berry notes "over 30 million people in the United States and Canada play some form of fantasy sports," and 13% of "all Americans played fantasy sports in 2012, and football is by far the most popular." Berry also discussed having a fantasy baseball conversation with Rick Santorum, as well as some of the lengths fantasy owners he interviewed went to in order to take part in drafts.

Berry also mentioned that he is in a "War Room League" that includes many of ESPN's NFL analysts. Berry recalls trying to trade a WR to one of his fellow league members, who refused the offer. "I said, 'Why don't you like him?' He said, 'I texted his quarterback. His quarterback doesn't like him.' That doesn't happen in most leagues, where one of the guys can literally text the real-life NFL quarterback" (NPR, 7/16).
