Mark Walter Discusses Dodgers Purchase For "60 Minutes Sports"

Dodgers Chair Mark Walter on tonight's episode of Showtime's "60 Minutes Sports" will appear in his first TV interview since he led Guggenheim Partners' purchase of the team. The story explores the team's rapid transition from bankruptcy to a club flush with expensive talent. Walter says of the $2.15B purchase price, "We came up with what we thought it was worth and ... made our best bid so we had the best chance to get it." Walter says other bidders "didn't put forth their real bid," but Guggenheim "did the opposite" (Showtime).

Tonight's episode also will feature a profile of golf course architect Pete Dye, who comes across as "not just a legend in the game, but also a sage and stand-up comedian." CBS News Associate Producer Nathalie Sommer said, "We knew he'd be good, but we had no idea how good until we started filming." Dye designed courses such as TPC Sawgrass, Harbour Town and The Ocean Course at Kiawah (GOLFWORLDMONDAY.com, 4/1).
