Khan Admits He "Did A Lot Of Cold Calling" Before Buying Jaguars
Jaguars Owner Shahid Khan today appeared in-studio on “CBS This Morning” and discussed how he came to purchase the team. Khan: “For years before it happened I did a lot of cold calling on owners, on the league, trying to learn the business and then the opportunity came.” CBS' Charlie Rose asked, “If you're losing, are you still making a lot of money?” Khan: “You're not going to make a lot of money. If you're losing and you're running the business properly, you will be solvent.”
Khan also discussed why he has kept a relatively high profile since acquiring the team. Khan: "You have fans who have been passionate. It's their team and all of a sudden they have a Pakistani Muslim guy. That is very unnerving. ... There were a lot of people in Jacksonville who thought my wife was probably Pakistani in a full burqa. It was important that they meet her, they meet our children and they know this is a civic asset.” CBS' Norah O’Donnell added, “And everyone loves your mustache in Jacksonville” (“This Morning,” CBS, 4/2).
