Golf Channel Rolling Out New "In Play" Magazine-Style Series

Golf Channel tonight at 10:30pm ET debuts its new magazine-style series, "In Play with Jimmy Roberts." Roberts: "Each month 'In Play' sets out to find the stories you're not likely to hear. ... We'll search the world for the best stories. No region is off limits." Roberts said he and the show's production team are "hoping that when we get a few episodes on the air that people will come to us and say, 'Have you heard about this?'" ("Morning Drive," Golf Channel, 3/11).

The N.Y. POST's Phil Mushnick writes the show has "good, thoughtful feel of CBS News' 'Sunday Morning.'" It "doesn't aim to serve NBC's or GC's promotional agenda, but to inform and entertain" (N.Y. POST, 3/11). CABLEFAX DAILY's Seth Arenstein writes the show is "gorgeously shot" and features "compelling stories, beginning with a tale about a golf artist who's never been on a course" (CABLEFAX DAILY, 3/8).
