The Seahawks and MLS Sounders are expanding the Pro Shop at CenturyLink Field. The store will close to the public Saturday, with renovations planned for completion by mid-June. The store's size will more than double from 3,000 to 7,400 square feet (Seahawks).

The Univ. of Massachusetts Faculty Senate by a 19-18 margin voted down a motion that would have called on the school's administration to "immediately consider" moving the school's football program back to the FCS after one year at the FBS level (MASSLIVE.com, 1/31).

Emirates airlines has agreed to a five-year extension of its shirt sponsorship deal with Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain. The current deal, which runs through '14, is worth US$5.5M annually. This comes just after the club signed David Beckham (AP, 2/1).

Russia Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak on Friday said that the country will spend more than $50B on preparations for the '14 Sochi Games. Kozak said as of Jan. 1, Russia had spent $37.85B, with $24.55B from private investors "and the rest from the federal budget" (REUTERS, 2/1).

The schedule for this weekend's UCI Cyclo-cross Elite World Championships in Louisville has been "revised to one day from two because of high water levels in the Ohio River and Beargrass Creek." All four races will be held Saturday (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/1). NPR ran a story this week about efforts to raise the profile of cyclo-cross in the U.S.
