"60 Minutes" Story Explores Football's Importance To Universities
Sunday's episode of CBS' "60 Minutes" will feature a story on how universities are increasingly using big-time college football as a tool to raise revenues and bolster school images. Reporter Armen Keteyian uses the Univ. of Michigan as a case study and interviews AD Dave Brandon. When discussing UM's recent $226M renovation of Michigan Stadium, Brandon says, "If you don't keep pace, if you don't stay competitive, you're going to have a problem" (CBS). The show will also examine Towson Univ. as an example of a "relatively unknown school trying to raise its profile with football" (Baltimore SUN, 11/16).
