Wasserman Hires Soccer Player Agents Away From Rival Firm

Wasserman Media Group has hired soccer player agents Paul McDonough and Spencer Wadsworth, who have repped some of the top young MLS stars, away from rival MLS player representation firm Santio Sports & Entertainment. It is not clear how many players may go with McDonough and Wadsworth to WMG, but both agents rep about a dozen MLS players each. Wadsworth reps FC Dallas MF Brek Shea, while McDonough reps the No. 2 overall picks in the last two MLS Drafts: Whitecaps F Darren Mattocks and Timbers F Darlington Nagbe. Both McDonough and Wadsworth will report to WMG Managing Exec & Exec VP Richard Motzkin, who heads the agency’s soccer practice.

Motzkin declined to discuss how McDonough or Wadsworth came to work for Wasserman or how many clients may come with them. Santio President Patrick McCabe did not immediately return a phone call for comment.
