Showtime On Saturday Will Preview Second Season Of "The Franchise"

Showtime on Saturday will air a preview of "The Franchise: A Season With The Miami Marlins" at 9:00pm ET. The 30-minute preview is "an appetizer for the second season" of the series, which will begin airing on July 11. The Marlins in the past "have been known for being secretive and sensitive to criticism," but team President David Samson vowed the team would be "a looser, more accessible operation" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 4/19).

The MIAMI NEW TIMES' Kyle Munzenrieder writes Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen is "shaping up to be the star of the show here. ... The guy's personality is tailor-made for reality TV. Otherwise it doesn't seem there's that much interesting going out." The MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINEL's Bob Wolfley writes Guillen's recent five-game suspension "no doubt will boost interest in Marlins' reality TV show."
