NASCAR Touts Green Initiatives Ahead Of Earth Day Race

NASCAR today issued a white paper detailing various environmental initiatives, including the series eclipsing the 2-million mile mark on Sunoco Green E15 fuel. NASCAR, its partners and Kansas Speedway have lined up several green initiatives specifically for Sunday's Sprint Cup Series STP 400, which coincides with Earth Day. These include Sprint implementing a wireless recycling program, American Ethanol painting the backstretch green and a 30-second NASCAR Green TV spot during Fox' race telecast (NASCAR).

NASCAR Chair & CEO Brian France said the two million miles run on ethanol by NASCAR has “proved out a lot of myths about that particular bio-fuel, what it can and can’t do.” France: “There are a number of initiatives that we’re doing to change that perception about NASCAR being green and being in-step” (“MSNBC Live,” MSNBC, 4/19).
