Amway's Sponsorship Of Red Wings Includes Charitable Initiative

The Red Wings today formally announced that homecare product giant Amway will become the team’s first presenting sponsor in its 86-year history. As part of the deal, Amway’s Nutrilite vitamins will become the official nutritional supplement of the team. The two companies will also partner with the Michigan Boys and Girls Club for a cross-state charity initiative in public schools. Olympia Entertainment President & CEO Tom Wilson said the two organizations are exploring further partnership opportunities involving team-branded products. “There are a lot of opportunities for ways to operate together, and we are each other’s first call when we have ideas,” Wilson said. Amway came on board with the Red Wings’ AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins in '09-10, and then became the Red Wings’ practice jersey sponsor for '10-11. Amway will retain rights to the practice jerseys and pucks, and will receive branding in Joe Louis Arena as well as select media opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings will hold their “Red and White” scrimmage game at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Sept. 27. It is the first time the game has been played since '07.
