ManU Buys Back $8.9M In Bonds, Sees Slight Increase In Q1 Sales

Manchester United bought US$8.9M "of its own bonds and reported a 1 percent increase in sales," according to Q3 financial results published Friday by the EPL club. The bond buy comes after the team, which is carrying over US$800M in debt, spent US$40.5M in Q2 on "buying back the dollar and sterling denominated notes." Sales for the club rose to US$121.7M from US$120.7M in the year-earlier period with much of the growth coming from the "club's commercial operation, which has surged 29 percent in the past year." Match-day income fell 9% to US$47.1M during the past quarter because of fewer games (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 5/13).
