PWHL sells out tickets for Bell Centre game

Tickets for the PWHL matchup between Toronto and Montreal at the Bell Centre on April 20 "sold out in less than 20 minutes" after going on sale today. The Canadiens' arena has a capacity of 21,105, which means the game "will set a new attendance record for women’s hockey," breaking the mark of 19,285 set when Toronto beat Montreal 3-0 on Feb. 16 at Scotiabank Arena. Montreal has been "splitting its home games between the Verdun Auditorium and Place Bell in Laval during its inaugural season, selling out both venues" (MONTREAL GAZETTE, 3/20). The Bell Centre is the sixth NHL venue to host PWHL games in the league’s inaugural season (SBJ).

The Bell Centre is the biggest hockey arena in North America, meaning the "only way to continue to break attendance records for women's hockey would be hosting outdoor games," which are an aspect that "remains in discussion among PWHL leaders" (THE HOCKEY NEWS, 3/20).
