Gotham FC draws its second-highest attendance

NJ/NY Gotham FC began its season on Friday with a 1-0 loss to the San Diego Wave in the Challenge Cup before a "nearly record crowd." Attendance was announced at 14,241 -- the second-highest on record for a Gotham FC match at Red Bull Arena. The lower bowl was “mostly full, along with a few sections upstairs” and the crowd was “engaged throughout.” Dignitaries were "on hand” for the game, including former USMNT player Tim Howard, N.Y. Giants coach Brian Daboll and second gentleman Doug Emhoff (N.Y POST, 3/16).
