Around the World....

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that "public money will be required" to fund Manchester United's new home, whether that is a "refurbished Old Trafford or a brand new stadium" (London TIMES, 3/10).

Red Bull Racing denied that Thai majority owner Chalerm Yoodivhya "had turned on team principal Christian Horner" after a German website "reported he would be fired before the next race in Australia." Yoodivhya has been a "strong ally" of Horner's throughout the internal investigation into "allegations of controlling behaviour levelled against him by a female colleague" (London TELEGRAPH, 3/11).

French Minister for Public Administration & Transformation Stanislas Guerini said that the government "will offer bonuses" to civil servants deployed across the capital during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a bid to 'avoid strikes during the events" this summer (LE MONDE, 3/11).

Malaysia's Olympic Council has been offered $128M to "help the country host the 2026 Commonwealth Games," which is currently without a host after the Australian state of Victoria canceled its plans last July due to "soaring costs." The $128M of "financial and strategic support" was made available for potential hosts "as part of Victoria's withdrawal settlement" (BBC.com, 3/11).
