Kyrie Irving drops first signature shoe with Chinese sportswear brand Anta

Mavericks G Kyrie Irving's first signature shoe from Anta, the KAI 1s, went on sale to the public on Wednesday, according to Kellen Bulger of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The shoe retails at $125 and features a "deep shade of purple, with pink accents, a carbon-plated midsole and a strap over the laces." The KAI 1s also feature "hieroglyphic-inspired detailing and design aspects that draw on Irving’s Native American heritage.” The shoe’s release coincided with an event held in front of the Sneaker Politics store in Deep Ellum, where a “pop-up purple basketball court featured the logo from the KAI 1s in the center circle.” Irving cut ties with Nike in Dec. 2022 and signed a five-year deal with the Chinese sportswear brand in July 2023. He also was appointed as the brand’s chief creative officer (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 3/7).
