Fox to use new Friday Night Football effort this fall

Fox Sports is experimenting with TV windows again, as the network announced today a new special package of elite Friday night college football games on its broadcast network. The primetime slate will include matchups from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Mountain West conferences. The exact branding of the primetime efforts are still in the works. That said, the matchups are expected to feature prominent matchups in an effort boost viewership in a similar way in which Fox has netted increased ratings by leaning into the noon Saturday window. Just this season, for example, its "Big Noon Saturday" averaged 6,739,000 viewers on Fox -- marking its best season on record and up 8% year-over-year.
