Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said that he is “looking to sell a portion” of the team, after the value of NFL teams "surged in recent years,” according to Marques & Tan of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Ross at the FII Priority event in Miami Beach said he is "looking at now to monetize a portion" of the Dolphins, as he "never dreamed we’d be so fast at the valuations that are out there today.” Marques & Tan noted a Dolphins stake sale “could surpass” the $6B a group led by Josh Harris paid for the Commanders. Ross's comments “confirm earlier reports he was looking to sell a minority stake of his sports empire,” which along with the Dolphins “includes the Hard Rock Stadium and the F1 Miami Grand Prix.” Bloomberg reported in November that Citadel founder Ken Griffin is "in talks to purchase it.” Meanwhile, minutes before Ross went on stage, Harris said that he “didn’t overpay for the Commanders, at the time the biggest sports transaction in history.” Harris: “People will look back at the purchase of the Commanders and say ‘wow that was bargain’” (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 2/23).
