American Family Field's video boards among many upgrades completed ahead of MLB season

The Brewers’ American Family Field will have two new scoreboards and LED digital displays behind home plate beginning this year along with other upgrades coming ahead of the MLB season, according to Drake Bentley of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The new 8mm LED digital display overlooking center field measures 12,077 square feet. The Brewers said that it will “be among the largest scoreboards" in MLB and is “more than double the size of the old display” at 5,940 square feet. The Brewers are also adding a scoreboard in right field above the bleachers. This screen is also an 8mm LED digital display measuring 2,840 square feet. Bentley noted the team partnered with ANC, a digital signage and visual display company, to “enhance existing digital and static stadium signage.” Outside of the video board upgrades, a downtown Milwaukee food hall and event venue -- 3rd Street Market Hall -- will “open an annex in the right field loge level” and feature “four local vendors.” The Brewers said that the space has also been “redesigned and reconfigured as a gathering spot to welcome fans with a gaming area.” Bentley noted that the Brewers’ team store in left field is “also getting an upgrade” this offseason (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/30). ANC will improve the existing digital and static stadium signage, install the new LED signage and integrate a new broadcast control room. The previous main scoreboard being replaced was installed in 2010 and made by Daktronics. The Brewers’ project is ANC’s first big MLB business win since ANC broke off from Learfield last year (Bret McCormick, SBJ).
