Chelsea MF Jessie Fleming is moving to the Portland Thorns for "a record fee for a signing made by an American NWSL club." The Thorns will pay "in the region of" $316,000 for the 25-year-old Canadian (London TELEGRAPH, 1/23).

Australian Open organizers asked defending ladies champion Aryna Sabalenka "if she was prepared to move to a smaller court" for her match against Barbora Krejcikova earlier today "after another day of scheduling chaos." The women both "declined to make the step down" from 15,000-seat Rod Laver Arena to 7,500-seat Margaret Court Arena (London TELEGRAPH, 1/23).
