STEVE SIMON will turn over the WTA CEO role while remaining as Exec Chair as part of an organizational restructuring announced today. President MICKY LAWLER will depart at the end of the year to pursue new opportunities. Lawler, a 2023 SBJ Champion, has served in the role since 2015 (WTA).

Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment named Gotham FC co-owner KRISTIN BERNERT Advisor & Co-Chair/ Athlete Advisory Council (SBJ).

Aquarius Sports and Entertainment promoted VP/Client Services SIGNE ENGLE to SVP/Client Services, Senior Dir/Client Services BRANDON ROLLINS to VP/Client Services, Senior Manager/Client Services RYAN JACOBSON to Dir/Client Services, Manager/Client Services NIK SCOTT to Senior Manager/Client Services, and Manager/Client Services MEGAN BREWI-ZANKEL to Senior Manager/Client Services (Aquarius Sports and Entertainment).

Sports Innovation Lab named Kargo Chief Strategy Officer JENNIFER PELINO Chief Commercial Officer & President/Data Cloud and appointed NISHAT MEHTA to its BOD. The media marketing veterans will help the company launch Sports Innovation Lab Audiences in January 2024 (Sports Innovation Lab).

South Carolina State named Walsh Univ. VP/Athletics and AD NATHAN COCHRAN AD. Cochran will replace OLIVER “BUDDY” POUGH, who “took on the AD job in early November” (AP, 12/11).

The Arena Group CEO ROSS LEVINSOHN, the publisher of Sports Illustrated, was fired yesterday following a “scandal over the publication’s use of AI-generated stories from fake authors. It was not immediately clear if that was related to the shakeup” (DEADLINE, 12/11).
