Milwaukee USL franchise delayed until 2026 due to stadium funding search

The 8,000-seat stadium would be part of the Iron District, a $220M developmentKahler Slater

The planned launch of a USL club in Milwaukee has been “delayed until 2026 as developers continue to seek financing for a downtown stadium,” according to Tom Daykin of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Milwaukee Pro Soccer, owned by Grafton business operator James Kacmarcik, is “working with Kenosha-based Bear Development LLC to develop a stadium to house the team." The 8,000-seat stadium would be part of the Iron District, a $220M development that includes “plans for a hotel on 11 acres.” The soccer stadium’s financing would include a $9.3M grant announced in Nov. by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, but there is “no immediate word on what other financing sources Milwaukee Pro Soccer is seeking” for the stadium. The club also is currently working with Cramer-Krasselt to “develop a team name, crest and branding” (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/29).
