Media Notes

THE ATHLETIC’s Torrey Hart noted sports content creator Kevin Fitzgibbons is “no longer allowed on the sidelines during NFL games for this season" after Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill "used his camera for a viral backflip touchdown celebration." NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said that Fitzgibbons had his "game day media credential revoked,” though the league “offered him the opportunity to continue collecting content on other projects.” Fitzgibbons said that the league told him he “‘had to be disciplined’ regardless of whether he knew the celebration was coming and should not have been jumping around and celebrating with Hill” (THE ATHLETIC, 11/29).

COMING TO HIS DEFENSE: Prime Video’s Kirk Herbstreit during an appearance yesterday on the "Pardon My Take" podcast said the "narrative" regarding play-by-play partner Al Michaels' enthusiasm during the broadcasts was "a bunch of (expletive)." Herbstreit, in his second year working with Michaels, said that Michaels “doesn’t take the criticism to heart” and that it is “just a narrative that social media’s kind of running with.” USA TODAY’s Chris Bumbaca noted the "Thursday Night Football" booth has been the "target of fans hoping for more juice on the broadcast" (USA TODAY, 11/29).
