Pop-Tarts Bowl to feature first edible mascot for winners

Pop-Tarts

The new Pop-Tarts Bowl is giving fans an “extra reason to tune in to this year’s game” as the winning team will get an opportunity to “take a bite out of the mascot following the matchup,” according to Matt Connolly of the ON3.com. Yesterday it was announced that the Pop-Tarts Bowl will "feature an edible mascot this year." The Duke’s Mayo Bowl and Cheez-It Bowl have both been “creative in recent years while looking to attract fans to their game," and now the Pop-Tarts Bowl "is joining in" (ON3.com, 11/27).

GETTING CRAZY GOOD: CBSSPORTS.com’s Chris Bengel wrote with Pop-Tarts now being the main attraction when it comes to this specific bowl, it “should be an interesting display to watch once the final whistle blows.” Bengel wondered how many bites "will be taken out of this Pop-Tart mascot?" Bengel: "It's certainly going to be up there with Duke's Mayo being dumped on the champion of the Duke's Mayo Bowl” (CBSSPORTS.com, 11/27). In Philadelphia, Gabriela Carroll wrote every year, bowl season “gets zanier.” The Duke’s Mayo Bowl and its postgame “mayo bath,” the french fry bath after the Idaho Famous Potatoes Bowl, and the Cheez-It Bowl’s Cheez-It themed hotel rooms are just a few of the ways that college bowl games are “trying to set themselves apart from the crowd” (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 11/27).
