Patricof, numerous athletes make investment in IMG Academy

Patricof Co. and “more than 50 of its current and former athlete clients," including Eagles C Jason Kelce and golfer Michelle Wie West, have "invested in sports-education company IMG Academy," according to Gillian Tan of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Execs said that the investment was "made alongside private equity firm BPEA EQT," which purchased IMG Academy in partnership with Nord Anglia Education for $1.25B including debt earlier this year. The size of the investment “wasn’t disclosed.” Several of the group of investing athletes “spent a part of their careers” at Bradenton, Florida-based IMG Academy, including Vikings WR Justin Jefferson. The Patricof group also includes Cowboys QB Prescott, Pacers F Bruce Brown Jr., Titans QB Ryan Tannehill, former MLBer CC Sabathia, former NFLer Victor Cruz and Warriors coach Steve Kerr (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 11/28).
