In Ireland, Brian Keogh wrote golf analyst Paul McGinley will “step in” as lead analyst for NBC during its broadcast of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas as the net searches for a replacement for Paul Azinger, whose five years with NBC ended at this year’s Ryder Cup in October. Keogh noted NBC is “looking to trial several candidates between now and the start of next year” before deciding on who will take over. McGinley is still under contract with Sky and Golf Channel, but his future “will likely depend on how he does in the Bahamas and future events over the next few months” (IRISH INDEPENDENT, 11/26).
PRESENCE REMAINS: In Chicago, Paul Sullivan wrote the “Harbaugh versus Everybody” storyline was “front and center” during Fox’s telecast of Michigan’s win over Ohio State. Sullivan wrote when Fox play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson “wasn’t gushing about ‘Maserati Marv’ Harrison or ‘Blake the Great’ Corum,” the excitable announcer “reminded us more than once that ‘Coach Harbs’ was watching the game at home.” Sullivan: “As if Harbaugh had something better to do during his three-game Big Ten suspension for the sign-stealing scandal” (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/26).
