NICK GILBERT, the late son of Cavaliers owner DAN GILBERT, will be "honored with the 2024 opening" of a downtown Detroit sports bar called Gilly’s. Gilly’s initial concept and design was "partly created by Nick prior to his death in May at age 26" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 11/22).

COME ONE, COME ALL: The LeBron James Museum opened Saturday at House Three Thirty in Akron, offering a “room-by-room thematic curation” of Lakers F LEBRON JAMES’ "accolades on the court to the minute details of his life." Rooms at the venue “reflect times in his life,” with details “all over the museum.” The museum offers a “smart, colorful, energetic collection of artifacts." Much of the collection is "out in the open" but "very little is interactive" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 11/27). James took his Lakers teammates on a tour of the museum yesterday following the team's game against the Cavaliers on Saturday in Cleveland (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 11/26).

NAMES: Former NFLer JEFF REED is an operating partner in Charlotte sports bar “Carolina Steel,” with the name representing his "connection to both" the his alma mater, the Univ. of North Carolina, and the Steelers. The theme of the sports bar is "focused on both North Carolina and Pittsburgh" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 11/26)....The Twins revealed former MLBer FRANK WHITE has won the Terry Ryan "Play Ball!" Award and former team broadcaster DICK BREMER will receive the team's annual Herb Carneal Lifetime Achievement Award. The pair "will be recognized" at the Twins' Diamond Awards on Jan. 25 (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 11/21)....Mets owner STEVE COHEN’s daughter SOPHIA got engaged to CAA agent HARRISON WATERSTREET last week (N.Y. POST, 11/26).

IN MEMORY: Former Bruins broadcaster TOM LARSON died Wednesday at 84 due to "complications from cancer," according to his son, JEFF. Tom worked at WSBK-TV where he became a "fixture among the region’s sports fans as host of Bruins and Red Sox pre- and postgame programming." He was also “one of the first familiar faces” on NESN, which he joined in 1986 (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/24).
