Expectations continue to be high for Brady's broadcast debut with Fox in 2024

There will be “no honeymoon” for former NFLer Tom Brady once he starts calling games for Fox in 2024, as he is "'expected' to have his broadcast game together from the get-go," according to Bob Raissman of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. Expectations of Brady turning in a performance justifying the 10-year contract worth $375M Fox is paying him "will be over the moon." Giving Brady a huge contract means there is “no way to lower expectations,” though there may be no way Fox can "prevent Brady from becoming the next" Drew Brees. If Brady has not already, he “should be at a stadium in a booth doing a game rehearsal, live-to-tape.” That way he could "practice mechanics like: First guessing, interacting with a play-by-play person and producer, interacting with a rules analyst and making his points quickly and succinctly.” Also, “managing the telestrator” and the “overall controlled chaos of the broadcast booth.” However, "no one can teach personality.” If Brady “projects the intensity he did on the field while coming off as likeable, honest and engaging in the booth,” his chances of succeeding are “exponentially better.” In some media precincts, Brady is a “polarizing star,” but that “quality” can “attract casual eyeballs who either love him (and want him to succeed) or loath him (because they are tired of him being celebrated) and are tuning in specifically to watch/hear him stumble over his own tongue” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/18).
