Bay FC to have practice facility at San Jose State while search continues for permanent location

NWSL expansion club Bay FC will have its practice facilities on the campus of San Jose State while it “continues to seek a location for permanent facilities,” according to Marisa Ingemi of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The team will play home games at PayPal Park for at least the next five seasons, and it is investing more than $2M to "develop its interim facility.” The locker rooms at SJSU will be “built out of the former SJSU football visiting-team locker rooms.” The 3,000-square-foot training facility and locker rooms were "designed by the team’s four founding owners" -- Danielle Slaton, Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne and Aly Wagner -- and will be "developed by Devcon Construction Incorporated." The training grounds will include an “indoor-outdoor player changing and relaxation space, getting ready rooms with salon-quality amenities and dedicated spaces for medical, performance and game preparation.” Bay FC is “still looking to have its own permanent training space and stadium,” but the team has “not announced progress on finding permanent sites for a stadium or practice facility, but has been considering locations across the Bay Area.” Bay FC previously had announced a $3M commitment for facilities at PayPal Park that includes a “3,600-square-foot standalone facility adjacent to the stadium that will include the team’s locker room, office areas, lounges, training rooms and more” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/14).
