The Basketball HOF will honor ICE CUBE with the inaugural Ice Cube Impact Award at the 2024 Spalding Hoophall Classic on Jan. 15 in Springfield, Mass. The Ice Cube Impact Award will "highlight individuals and organizations that use basketball to strengthen and unify their community." These awardees will be commemorated at the HOF with an "exhibit that will highlight the winners and their achievements." As the founder of the BIG3, Ice Cube created a professional league "built on the game’s proven bests, revitalizing careers and opening doors for all players and coaches who wish to continue to positively contribute to the game" (MASSLIVE.com, 11/14).

BUYERS & SELLERS: Recently retired NASCAR driver KEVIN HARVICK on Oct. 30 bought a Cornelius, N.C., mansion for $6.75M. The home hosted one of the "iconic dinner scenes" from the movie "TALLADEGA NIGHTS." It sits on1.3 acres, with a kitchen that includes a "Wolf stove, double ovens, two dishwashers and built-in charging stations on the island." A "full bar, projector screen and dart board highlight an entertainment room" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/14).

NAMES: Golfer RORY MCLLROY is planning on "moving back to the UK on a permanent basis." He has "always retained a property in Holywood, a suburb in his home city of Belfast," but has been "primarily based in South Florida for the last five years." His relocation to “the London area” is "not imminent" (London TELEGRAPH, 11/14)....The Houston Sports HOF in Jan. will induct Pro Football HOFer WARREN MOON, Basketball HOFer CYNTHIA COOPER and former MLBer LANCE BERKMAN (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/14)...The Baseball HOF will feature the "drum the late JOHN ADAMS used to beat to rally" the Guardians and crowd at games. Adams was "best known for carting that drum to bleacher seats for more than 3,700 games, a ritual that began in the summer of 1973" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 11/14).
