CFL's Ambrosie planning to remain in role as long as BOG wants him

Randy Ambrosie has been a proponent of CFL expansion into the Maritimes but hasn't offered a deadlinegetty images
CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie has "no immediate plans to step away" from the role he has held since 2017, according to Dan Ralph of the CP. Ambrosie said the decision for him to stay on “will be made by the board of governors and myself," but he plans on "staying in the job as long as the governors want me to be in it.” Ralph noted conventional thinking suggests Ambrosie would “look to stay on the job at least through the ’26 season when the league’s broadcast deals with TSN and the CBS Sports Network expire.” Ambrosie has been a “proponent of CFL expansion into the Maritimes,” though he “hasn’t offered a deadline.” He did say that the “time is fast approaching for that to happen." Ambrosie added the CFL has “been in a conversation with a highly engaged, highly qualified potential owner in Atlantic Canada,” but they “don’t have a conclusion yet.” Ambrosie for the first time in his CFL tenure was able to "trumpet good news about the Toronto Argonauts, B.C. Lions and Montreal Alouettes." The Argonauts this year had a 41.1% "increase in game-day revenue," while the Alouettes, which were operated by the CFL this off-season before being sold to Quebec businessman Pierre-Karl Peladeau, experienced a 13.5% "increase in game-day revenues." The Lions continue to "thrive under owner Omar Doman," with its game-day revenues having "increased 12.3%" (CP, 11/14).
