A professor of electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon University for the last 22 years, Priya Narasimhan founded YinzCam in 2009 and has grown it into one of the leading mobile experience providers in the sports industry. The Pittsburgh-based company builds apps for teams, venues, and events, with gaming, in-app game replays, augmented reality, and mobile food and drink ordering all part of its capabilities. AR has been an area where the company has pushed the boundaries in recent years, bringing in-venue AR activations to life through fans’ phones. YinzCam works with around 170 sports teams and leagues, including in the NFL (24 of its teams), NBA, NHL, MLS and Premier League, as well as the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells and the Formula One Grand Prix races in Miami and Las Vegas. — B.M.
