Boston Common Golf has signed a multiyear deal with GolfNow that will see the company become a founding partner of the TGL team. Boston Common announced its team name and branding last week, as well as its roster of players. As part of the deal, GolfNow will have in-venue signage near the bench areas at SoFi Center, where matches will be played in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Along with in-venue signage, NBC Sports Next President Will McIntosh said GolfNow will provide experiences that will see clients come in and play in the same environment the TGL competitors will experience at SoFi Center.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed, with McIntosh only saying it was “significant.” But a source familiar with TGL’s sponsor structure said teams had been seeking as much as $4M annually for founding partners and were looking for between 2-3 each at that level.

Also as part of the deal, NBC Sports Next -- the parent of GolfNow -- will produce a five-part docu-series on the team that will launch in the first half of 2024, McIntosh told SBJ this week. Though without a title currently, McIntosh said the 22-minute episodes will be around the “making of a Boston sports team,” with cameras already rolling now and through the league’s launch in January.

The docu-series will be distributed on GolfPass -- NBC Sports’ online subscription-based digital service -- as well as Peacock and NESN platforms in the Northeast. Rory McIlroy -- who will play for Boston Common Golf -- launched GolfPass in 2019 alongside then-Golf Channel President Mike McCarley, who founded TGL and parent TMRW Sports alongside McIlroy and Tiger Woods

NBC Sports Next did the deal directly with Boston Common and its owner, Fenway Sports Group.

McCarley joined this week's Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast to talk all things TGL.
